THE
USE OF YOUTUBE AS MEDIA IN LEARNING FOREIGN LANGUAGE AT MI. MIFTAHUL AMAL ELLAK
DAYA 2022
INTRODUCTION
A.
Research Context
Information and communication technology (ICT)
is widely employed in many aspects of human existence in the twenty-first
century to make living easier. As a result, the 2013 curriculum and The
Framework for 21st-Century Learning encourage students to engage in integrated
learning. Information and communication technology (ICT)
is an important skill to have in order to confront the future. The age of digital learning is arrived.[1]
ICT plays a critical role in the development of numerous industries. Economy, Industry, Politics, Culture, and Education are only a few examples.
It can be difficult to use potentially
valuable technologies, increase student autonomy, and create engaging lessons
while teaching English as a foreign language.[2] In this type of education, both the
teacher and the pupils must have adequate access to the internet, computers,
and other modern media, which most people are familiar with as forms of
entertainment nowadays. As a result, using YouTube videos as a teaching medium
was easier to grasp.
Teachers should consider an appropriate teaching strategy and media
for students while supporting the teaching of English as a foreign language
process and motivating them. The utilization of the World Wide Web (WWW) as a
resource in enhancing English language learning was critical to achieving a
meaningful outcome when teaching a foreign language.[3]
Learners benefit from video since it exposes body language and
contextual information, as well as providing kids with "short attention
spans”.[4]
People like watching movies for amusement in their daily lives, but videos may
also be used to teach and learn English as a foreign language. When people view
movies, particularly English ones, their ears instinctively learn to listen
carefully and process the language. Students that watch a video can understand
what is being said in the film.
YouTube is the most often used internet video platform. YouTube is
an online video platform that hosts a variety of videos created by users who
become content creators. According to Kabooha and Elyas,[5]
YouTube is a multidimensional resource that provides easy access to videos in
all domains of expertise. And for this technological era, much people including
teacher use this video platform as their teaching-learning tool. So that’s why
the researcher interested to study about “The Use Of YouTube As Media In

ANALYSIS
MORAL VALUE OF CHARACTERS IN HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE MOVIE
INTRODUCTION
A.
Research Context
Literature is an artistic quality that
provides pleasure and qualifies appreciation of a person's personal imagination
in relation to life, conveying cognition, and feeling. The term
"literature" refers to works of writing that purposefully and
creatively experiment with language in order to convey images and ideas that
pique the reader's interest. Fiction and nonfiction are the two types of
literature. Fiction is a story in which the main goal is to entertain the
reader while also teaching them something. Folklore, short tales, and novels
are the three different types of fiction.
In the case of a novel, this writing was focused with prose
fiction. A novel is a story that can entertain people while also providing
guidance or lessons to the reader. According to Rowlings (2006)[8],
the word "novel" comes from the Italian word "novella,"
which meaning "story" or "news." There are essential
aspects that develop the novel and make it into a solid plot, according to
Griffith (1982)[9].
Character, place, plot, topic, and point of view are the five elements.
According to Nurgiyantoro (2005), life and human life difficulties
can be divided into three categories. The first is the issue of human
relationships with oneself, the second is human relationships with other humans
in social life, and the third is human ties with nature.[10]
The
concerns of human life, such as human relationships with themselves
(individual) and human interactions with each other, were the subject of this
study. As a result, several of the novels are based on real-life events. The
reader can learn moral principles and experience from the author through the
novel's challenges. According to Aminudin (1987), referenced in Ilhadi (2016), the
creator of a literary work conveys moral principles through the
characterization of the character. Characters are the people represented in a dramatic
or narrative work that are understood by the reader as having distinctive
moral, intellectual, and emotional attributes based on deductions from what
they say and how they say it, according to Abrams (1999).[11]
J.K.Rowling's first novel, Harry
Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, was published in 1997. Bloomsbury published
it in the United Kingdom in 1997. The novel received the majority of children's
book awards in the United Kingdom, as well as additional accolades in the
United States. The novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was chosen
for this study because the researcher believes it can teach some valuable moral
lessons. Which of the following good morals refers to Harry Potter's and his
friends' solid friendship? The characters in the story elicit a wide range of
feelings and actions, from which the readers might derive moral ideals and
experiences from the fantasy novel. So
that’s why the researcher interested to study about “ANALYSIS MORAL VALUE OF
CHARACTERS IN HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE MOVIE”.
